Just finished Infamous Second Son. It was a lot better than I was expecting, especially considering every time I've tried to get into the first Infamous I've hated it. This one fixed most of my complaints about the first game. Did a hero (good side) play-through and liberated all the districts.

I also beat Pokémon Volt White the other day - another Drayano hack, and it made me actually realize how great Gen 5 really is once you fix a few issues. Playing through the sequel now (even though I beat Blaze Black 2 already).

Wonder if I can knock another game out before Destiny.

Neglected to mention I beat NES Remix a little bit ago. Just added it to the list.

I enjoyed it. Wasn't entirely what I was expecting (which was essentially a whole game of 9-Volt games from WarioWare), but it was okay. Glad it was free as my Club Nintendo Platinum award. Not really interested in paying for the sequel or the handheld version now.

Did give me a bit more of an appreciation for some NES games I haven't played much of (and really, just feel broken) like Ice Climbers or Excitebike. The game's challenges are around embracing and mastering those broken controls or physics, which is both really weird and really smart.

A very small percentage of the game is fun stuff like "play as Link in Super Mario Bros.! :o" as pushed in the trailers, so that was a bit of a let down.

Just finished The Portopia Serial Murder Case. An old Famicom game. Apparently made by some prodigy kid at the time. Kojima cites at as an early influence on him. etc., obscure but interesting

I found it a bit like Ace Attorney, except a lot more primitive and less entertaining. Still not sure what's with the inexplicable hammer smashing or the ability to freak out people you're investigating by threatening to take their clothes. lol Had a twist ending. And the maze section is pretty impressive for the hardware (first person 3D). But lots of random, mundane clicking around to complete the thing

Just finished the main story of Destiny. Terrible ending to a mediocre story mode.

Hopefully the game gets "built upon" as Bungie keeps saying it will be.

Playing more old games. I beat Ghostbusters on the Sega Master System this morning. I really enjoyed that, off-key 8bit version of the theme song and all. Levels and gameplay styles were pretty varied and that's rather impressive for the time.

On this same retro game kick, I beat Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr., and Popeye on the NES recently too. But those we're so easy, I don't think they're worth adding to my list here. Ghostbusters was a challenge though.

(these are all arcade games basically, and loop indefinitely. So, I'm counting "beaten" as one successful pass of one loop of the set of levels)

Ummm let's see, what have I beaten since I last posted...

    Dragon Age: Origins
I... sort of enjoyed this. I mostly played it because everyone praises it so much and I did enjoy DA2, but I didn't really enjoy this one a lot. I'm just not really a WRPG person and this game really drove that home to me. I enjoyed some of the characters, though, and I don't regret playing it. I just don't think I'd ever play it again.

    The Walking Dead: Season 2
I finished up the last episode of this last month and... god. Well. At least I didn't cry as much as I cried at the end of Season 1. But this was just such a phenomenal game and it still managed to really move me. Everyone, please play these games.

    Tales of Xillia 2
Finished up the main plot of the localized version. I really like this game, but roommate always wants to play with me and he is not a good Tales partner (nor is this even a remotely good game to co-op)... plus I am not a fan of a lot of things in this translation so I don't think I'll be doing much extra. I do still need to finish the character episodes but after that I think I'll have no reason to pick the game up again. I'll watch the bonus endings on Youtube. I put the work into getting 'em once and that's enough for my ego. (The game still made me bawl, that didn't change, at least.)

    That's all I've managed. :(

I just wrapped... "Princess Tomato in the Salad Kingdom" for the NES.

And... it's about as fun and exciting as it sounds :\

Boring text based adventure point and click kinda thing. Nowhere near as interesting or fun as Portopia was. Really cheesy. Battles were rock, paper, scissors. Which was different.

I beat Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor tonight. Really good game, and the Nemesis system is the most next-gen thing I've seen yet. Story was pretty bad though, and the ending was just terrible. Definitely a great foundation for a sequel though.

Beat Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright in English the other day. It was great again and the one thing I'd failed to grasp about the ending reveal when I played it originally made it make soooo much more sense this time around, haha. Everyone should get this game. The music is phenomenal.

Theeen I beat Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep: Final Mix HD (goddamn that's a handful). Still my favourite game. Loved being able to play the FM version in Japanese. ;_; My beautiful Aqua, your English voice was so terrible. This made everything better. *wipes tear from eye* I'm working on getting its Platinum now.

And this week I downloaded Layton Brothers: Mystery Room on a bit of a whim and beat all the cases over the course of the week. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. Controls could have been a bit tighter during investigations, and I still have noooo idea what the main character's accent was supposed to be, but it was a lot of fun! The cases were interesting, the characters were endearing, and as always with a Layton game, the music was great. I only wish there were more cases. :(

I just wrapped up "Catrap", the Game Boy version of "Pitman". It's lost little gem. If you like Donkey Kong '94, the Crazy Castle series, Chip's Challenge, etc. Heck... if you like block-pushing puzzles at all, really. You should really check out this game. And it's available in the 3DS Virtual Console.

Really played well to my nostalgia for those games I've mentioned. And I enjoy a good puzzle. There's a hundred of them in this game and the difficulty really ratchets up around the half-way mark. Or could just be my own stupidity :P

And... I looked up that Layton game mentioned in a previous post. Sounds fun. Never knew that existed. I hope it hits the eShop as a port some day. No space on my phone to try it.
