Beat my first game of 2015 - Shovel Knight. Those last few levels...I haven't sworn at a game that much in a while, except maybe Tropical Freeze. I'm not sure which was the harder of the two games though.

Beaten 4 games so far this year, but they're all pretty short so it's not a huge accomplishment.

Since the thread went up, I learnt that Hatoful Boyfriend (the bird dating sim) has a sequel so I replayed and completed the first game (in pretty Steam HD edition!) and then played the second game. They're just visual novels so not a lot of effort went into that, lmao. Then I decided to play Cthulu Saves the World because I really liked the Penny Arcade games that the same developer made and it was a lot of fun, so I'm glad I finally picked it up. :D It only took about 6 hours total so it's a short game but it has some interesting game mechanics and the dialogue and flavour text is pretty funny.

I recommend all of these games to anyone.

Posting my list nearly a week late because I was really hoping to have more done by now. (Hyrule Warriors, something retro - was The Adventure of Valkyrie, but now likely Metroid NES -, Pokémon Snap). But, alas :(

Anyway, I really enjoyed replaying the first Ace Attorney. I think I'm going to break things up though and play something between each one, so I'm not playing five games back to back (or six, I guess. Since I have AAvsPL to play too). The redrawn art was accurate, the 3D effect was nice and subtle (really nothing more than having the background in the back, the text box in the front, and the character in between), I think the music might have been touched up a bit too? Humour and characters were as good as I remembered it. I remembered the cases too well though. I kept trying to jump ahead because I knew the answer, kept getting penalized lol Oops. Also happy that the extra DS case was included. Looking forward to continuing on.

I looked up the trailer to that Cthulu thing on Steam too; very evident A Link to the Past reference there with the bridges and mountains. But Windows only, so my wallet is safe.

I'm not super into Super Smash Bros. right now, but I wanted to put my GCN Classic Controller Pro to good use. Over the holidays I finally hacked my Wii, and transferred everything to my Wii U. So, I took the opportunity to use the GCN controller with the VC release of Pokémon Snap. Didn't have a lot of TV time, so I played it off of the tablet. Kinda not really made it feel like a portable version. :( I want a sequel already

I played the heck out of. Played each stage multiple times for each individual Pokémon, beating the majority of my existing photo scores. Then at the end I did a couple full runs of each levels trying to beat the challenge scores and my previous high scores from past years. I didn't think I had a lot of room to improve, but I beat a lot of photos this round. And learned a couple of new things along the way (like a part of the Volcano path, where if you drag the Vulpix far enough along they will all automatically dance; or three Zubat in one picture). And some pictures I thought I could not beat (dual Pikachu on a stump with thunder bolts), I somehow did.

So, I feel accomplished and sufficiently nostalgic now.

Literally sitting here watching the ending of Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker right now. Fun little game - definitely some creative concepts in the puzzle design, and it's adorable to boot.

Beat Tales of Hearts R over the last week and I hated it a lot. It's not Re:Coded level, but it's definitely my "Re:Coded of the Tales series". The localization is AWFUL. The translation is pretty poor in that they really upped the level of sexism in the game, made the characters like... sociopaths compared to what I heard in the JP dialogue... mistranslated literal English text to make it more confusing, and ugh. Too many problems. Don't play it.

Danganronpa was part of the Anniversary sale on PSN so I bought it right away, since I'd asked for it for Christmas and my brother accidentally got me the sequel instead. I'd originally assumed I'd be spending my time between Hearts R and Zestiria by doing completion stuff in Hearts but I never want to touch that game again so instead I picked up DR. It was really good! I loved the characters, the localization production value was GREAT (I played with English voices on but did completion stuff with JP voices and coming from TOHR, the change in quality was just so massive), and I really liked the story. I'm not a huge fan of the mechanics during trials but that's completely forgiven since the game was so well-written. I saw a lot of people compare gameplay to Ace Attorney and it's true. The best part, though, was that as the trial unfolds, the "what really happened" unravels so well just like in AA trials. The whole time through I just revelled in it, since I knew it was gonna be one of those games that I'd never quite be able to experience the same way again unless I got amnesia or something. (I enjoyed this game so much that I went ahead and got the Platinum trophy in it, too. My fastest Platinum... 3 days. :P)

I think you'd really like it. The writing is great and the whole thing is just kind of a love story to parodying games and game tropes. It's a lot of fun and not very long, so if you ever do get a chance to play it, go for it!
