Stayed up and beat my first game of 2016 - Rise of the Tomb Raider. Fantastic game overall and a big improvement over the 2013 reboot (which I enjoyed as well). I wasn't a big fan of the ending sequences, but it's a small mark on an otherwise great game.
I cleared Yoshi's Woolly World (unlocked all the Yarn Yoshis, beat all the secret worlds) and NES Remix 2. And these both happened over the course of downtime, so I don't recall the exact day I beat them XD
I spent the day torturing myself with some challenging NES games. I managed to get through Dino Rikki, an odd little prehistoric shmup, and somehow I managed to survive Contra - the Famicom version at that
Just beat Darksiders II. The first game was quite a bit better. This one had way too much extraneous loot, the plot went nowhere, and the pacing was off. It also had collectathon syndrome- the entire game was a series of "go collect three macguffins." Also, the ending was one of the worst of any game I've ever played, and it added pretty much nothing to the first game. That said, I did enjoy it. The combat was fun, and there's a lot of stuff to do. It's still nice to see a grittier take on Zelda, and I love the lore and mythology - too bad it doesn't really live up to its potential on that front. It had some creative puzzles, and even though the dungeon designs themselves got a bit samey, they had some creative elements. Pretty much a textbook example of a three-star game.
Over the last couple months, I've played through the Uncharted series, and tonight I beat Ratchet & Clank for PS4. Post should be up to date now.
I haven't been keeping track of my completions. Ooops :S In recent memory, I have finished... the New Play Control version of Metroid Prime 2, Professor Layton VS Phoenix Wright... finally, and a delightful little indie game called Affordable Space Adventures that I picked up in the Nintendo Humble Bundle
Ending a three month streak of not beating anything with Twilight Princess HD - did a complete run this time through. I definitely don't look at the game as fondly as I did the first time I played it ten years ago, and the beginning of the game is such a slog...but it is still pretty high in my rankings of Zelda games. And it was great to finally play the game as intended, without waggle or mirroring. I missed pointer aiming though.
