Follow-up to the Summer Sale thread. The Holiday Sale lasts from Dec 20 - Jan 5. Anyone bought anything good this time? Anything you want to go on sale?

I've been gifted a few things because I have pretty cool friends but I've only bought one thing: FTL Faster Than Light and wow it's addicting. @_@;; Definitely worth it at $5 and it's still on sale now go go go!

But really, I've been disappointed with this sale. No amazing deals or anything and I've already gotten my holiday badge so I've gotten pretty lax on checking it. Mind you, I'm probably only disappointed because I've gotten almost everything I want in previous sales and I've trained myself to be really stingy with these since I so rarely finish games before the next sale anyway. :P

There are so many repeats of stuff from last month's sale and even the summer sale. The pricing is always the same too. I've been pretty disappointed with the Steam sales in general this year.

That's because when there's a Steam sale, practically everything on Steam goes on sale. :P

I meant the flash sales and daily deals. :P

I don't understand why they did the Autumn Sale. :/ It made no sense to do such a long one, especially when everyone knew the Winter Sale was like a month later.

I do like the advent of the flash deals and whatnot, but I wish they'd bring back achievement perks and the like too. I really liked last year's Winter Sale where a lot of the games on sale each day had prizes for doing achievements in them. Sort of gave you incentive to try out your new games as soon as you buy them and made it more interactive than simply "vote for your favourite of these three sales you've already seen". (At least they're keeping the genres together this time around for the community vote sales instead of pitting Borderlands against tiny indie games...)

I think I have bought too much to my fancy, not all from the sale however, my December Steam purchases have totalled 100 ;^_^

I guess the ones I am really enjoying however are:
    • Castle Crashers
    • Bastion
    • Hitman Absolution
    • Super Meat Boy
But really the sales are astonishing, I saw some items dropped from £100 to £25 but I sadly didn't pick them up. I really love these kind of sales because I have a chance to play so many games for little coin. To be fair, they have lowered the price on pretty much everything, I applaud them for doing that since I don't see too many shops doing sales that big! I just can't wait for the Summer sale, too, since all the new releases in 2013.

I would really like to get in on some of that Civ V business. I may end up getting it, but it'd just end up on my backlog of games I need to play. :)

    Otherwise, not very interested.

So what did everyone wind up with from the sale? I managed to hold off and not buy anything this time.

Fallout New Vegas and Skyrim. I was holding off on buying them because I had them on Xbox, however since I was in a better financial position due to Christmas, I decided to treat myself. I'm not in any way regretful of these purchases. I already prefer both these titles on the PC simply because mouse and keyboard just feels a lot less clunkier and the controls make a lot more sense. Don't get me wrong, the Xbox versions are great, it's just the freedom of PC versions (in terms of mappable buttons) that really allow me to enjoy the games more on the PC. Not to mention mods. I love mods.
