So...who here likes theme parks? Is there a particular one that you frequent? Any rides/attractions that you absolutely adore? Thread idea totally inspired by the fact I bought an annual pass to Busch Gardens last week and was coerced into riding my first roller coaster (yes, I've always been chicken before now).
Only one I've ever been to is Dollywood. Love it. I don't ride very many of the rides though, I'm not a huge adrenaline junkie.
Walt Disney World for me (Disneyland is great too). But I won't bother explaining why. My explaination won't be near as good as TRI89's, which I'm sure will be appearing soon...and in great detail! I will list my favourite attractions though: Magic Kingdom: Haunted Mansion Epcot: Soarin' Hollywood Studios: Rock n' Rollercoaster Starring Aerosmith, Toy Story Mania is good as well Animal Kingdom: Kilimanjaro Safaris Expedition Blizzard Beach: Toboggan Racers Typhoon Lagoon: Crush 'n' Gusher There are soooo many fantastic attractions and shows but those are my "must do's".
Okay, I spent way to long writing something. I was nowhere near finished. So, I've given up. You get the short form. I do enjoy a good coaster, but I love theme parks. Key word there. It's not an amusement park or a roller coaster park or a fair. I love the intricate themeing and attention to detail that makes each area feel like unique and real. Big DisneyParks fan as a result. I've been to Walt Disney World I think four times. Disneyland Paris once. And the original Disneyland once. I know Magic Kingdom-style parks like the back of my hand. There's plenty at Disney that I like for sentimental reason (I'm looking at you ultra-cheesy Carousel of Progress), but I'll stick try to stick to rides At Walt Disney World: Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Space Mountain, The Haunted Mansion, Expedition Everest, Rock 'n Roller Coaster, The Twilight Zone Terror of Terror, Star Tours, Toy Story Midway Mania, Soarin', Spaceship Earth, Kilimanjaro Safaris, Countdown to Extinction. At Disneyland Paris: Crush's Coaster, Space Mountain: Mission 2 (wilder, more modern version of the original) At Disneyland: Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Forbidden Eye, California Screamin', Radiator Springs Racers
It's almost that time of year again! I made my first trip to Busch Gardens a couple of weeks ago and almost worked up the courage to ride Apollo's Chariot, but Nick got sick and we had to leave early. So maybe next time I'll have a streak of bravery and actually try it.
You got lucky lol Gave you an excuse not to ride it. I have nothing else to contribute lol I haven't been to a park since Disneyland. I don't think I'll be returing to Walt Disney World for a while. And I haven't been to my local theme park in six or seven years :\ So, yeah.
I love theme parks. Disneyland is amazing (and I live close to it!), Magic Mountain (Six Flags) is another favorite of mine. I love roller coasters, but I also love the slow, but fun animatronic rides like It's A Small World or Mr. Toad's Wild Ride.
Is it sad that I...really have no desires to go to Disneyworld/land? In Florida, Universal Studios (Harry Potter!) and Busch Gardens Tampa both interest me more and in California I have more of a desire to go to Magic Mountain someday.
You'd be missing out if you skipped them though. They're great places to go. They don't have the looping, crazy coasters, but they've got fun ones still. Space Mountain, Matterhorn, Big Thunder Mountain, etc. Plus the fun of Pirates, Indiana Jones, and the various animatronic rides. You go to Disney for the experience of it - not the thrill of the rides. It's a special place to visit. Even as an adult, it's not like much else. But I live close to Disneyland and have gone countless times. It's basically part of ANY Southern Californian child's upbringing. ;D
What? WHAT? fddjakha;gaafs This is unacceptable. No. They do have some thrill rides, though they're not thrill parks. And the thrill rides they have, while not as fast, or tall, or crazy as elsewhere they're just as fun or more fun through trickery - forced perceptive, music. Every ride is like a mini movie with a story that builds up through the queue if you pay attention to it. They are theme parks in every sense of the word. Theming. Immersiveness. You feel like you're somewhere else. If you're an obsessive person, like I am, and really care about small attention to details it just continually blows your mind.
