I've heard of Tribes...and that's about it. Don't really know what it's all about and don't know anyone who plays it. I'm not a big fan of microtransactions, but it's either get the game free and get pinged all the time for DLC and microtransactions, or pay for the game...and then get pinged all the time for DLC and microtransactions.
It depends on the game for me. If the F2P game is loaded with bugs and/or cheaters, I'm going to take my money somewhere else to a better deserving F2P game, like Spiral Knights or Team Fortress 2.
