I've been thinking of getting a slim PS3 just because mine is getting old and I don't want it to die on me. Plus apparently the slim performs slightly better with some things. I'd wait for a good trade-in offer before making a decision though.

My original Xbox 360 had it within a month but because it was pre owned and I was young I didn't understand what to do about it. My PS3 has had a few issues, including the complete wipe of my hdd and a period of about 4 days where it wouldn't turn on, but in fairness I've put that thing through it's paces and it's getting old.

Ironically my Megadrive (Genesis to you yankee doodles), SNES, PS1 and Gameboy Colour have never had an issue, even though I dropped the Megadrive down the stairs more than once.

So...that trade-in offer I was waiting for is here. Thinking about upgrading to the new super slim PS3 since Gamestop will apparently give me $180 for my old fat PS3, so I could upgrade for like $80. Thoughts? Or just keep my PS3 and hope it never YLODs?

I know this goes against what I've suggested to you before, but I don't think it'd be worth it. If you upgraded to the newer one, you'd have less storage space. Yeah, you'd have another game in your library, but at the same time, you could instead just buy that game and still have more storage space. I would just keep your current PS3.

...how do you figure? I'd be upgrading from 80GB to 250GB. o.o

... Oh. >>; I thought they had less space than the older models. In that case, hell yeah, go for it!

I remember, in the days of Modern Warfare 2, getting a Red Ring of Death. :( It was so sad, you know, and I had put all my attempts into trying to fix it. I could make it work for an hour, but then it would go again, and something I had loved for so many years was gone. We got a new Xbox eventually, because my Dad was being very tight about getting a new one, considering I was around 12/13. Modern Warfare 2 was a game I played for so long, and when I say long I mean; 32 days, 18 hours and 17 minutes if I look at my profile right now...

I got a 360 for my 17th birthday that RRoD'd roughly 12 hours later while playing Lost Planet. :( Who knows, I might have ended up a 360 fan had it not happened. xD I've had a fat PS3 for quite a few years (I'd like to say 5, but don't remember really) that has been through falls and everything else which hasn't died yet, haven't used it for about a year though. I've personally never seen the yellow light.
