Simple enough question - do you still live with your parents? Or do you have your own apartment/home? Inspired by the fact that I'm finally going to be moving out soon - probably in mid-July. Now that I have a decent job I can afford to move out, and I think I have a really good deal on an apartment, so I'll finally be free to set out with a life of my own.
I live at home. Geoff, you have a decent job? :P And since I've moved into a new house (free of the paternal parent) I pay rent now. Works out since I have a part time job.
Looking at my relatives... my family tends to just stay at home until they're married. Even if that is well into their 30s. So, I'm not going anywhere soon. More accurately, I'm not moving out because I can't afford to move out. It's also why I chose to stay at home for school. I don't want to just get by once I move out, I want to be able to live comfortably. But, self-imposed cut-off for me would be when I'm 30. Unless I miraculously get really wealthy sometime before that, then I'm out.
I live with my mother, grandparents, and two siblings. This August, I'm moving into my dorm at East Tennessee State University.
I go to school about an hour away from home so I don't live with my parents anymore but I'm still very much dependent on them. They've always had to pay for either my tuition or my rent and recently, they've had to pay both. :( I've been pretty sick the last few years and I can't work part-time during school and now I can't even do full-time work on my terms off very easily. (So I've just stopped taking terms off, haha.) Anyway, my brother goes to the same school that I do now so my parents ended up buying a townhouse in this city last summer. So I live there with two of my best friends as roommates and it's kind of amazing. We're in a great location, we don't have to deal with yardwork/shovelling snow, and it's a lot of fun. My brother's living here this summer then he starts doing co-op so he'll be sort of all over the place every other term. Anyway, I don't pay rent anymore and I feel pretty lame about it but oh well.
I still live with my parents, yep. During the college year I live on my own in a rented house with another student (which may turn into "other students" this coming year), but otherwise I live at home with my parents and siblings. I'm currently looking for a summer job so I'll be able to totally support myself financially while I'm here; it's not going well so far but I'mma keep trying. I'm not in a rush to move out right now but I am aware that I'm an adult now and have to take responsibility in certain areas of my life now.
I'm still living with my parents, but at my age that's still pretty normal. Hopefully if things go according to plan and I get into university I'll be moving out and living in student halls, and then eventually renting a place somewhere.
I will be living alone for the first time this coming August. Moving to San Francisco with a friend and experiencing the big city life. Pretty scary, but also exciting. Can't wait to see what I become from the experience.
