I think we can all agree that handhelds need more love, so come on in and chat about the 3DS's amazing library, how awesome the DS was, or how Sony really needs to actually start acknowledging the Vita's existence.

So in my spare time I usually am not doing a whole lot besides working, chores, or trying to play games. However, last spring, someone near to me passed away, and many years prior to that they gave me an original Gameboy. It worked, but it was fairly well-used. I decided to sit down, last summer, and try cleaning it up. That didn't work out too well initially, but I decided to finally get the ball rolling and I did the work that I wanted to on it, plus a little bit more.

In a world where mobile gaming is quickly overtaking just about everything else, do you see a future for dedicated handheld gaming platforms? The 3DS is an excellent system and has been a sales success, but the dropoff in sales from the DS and even the GBA is quite evident, and it will likely be the lowest-selling Nintendo handheld when all is said and done.

What will it take for such platforms to survive and compete with smartphones and tablets?

Right now I'm doing a Nuzlocke of Platinum. It's the first time I've attempted a challenge and honestly, it's not that much more challenging - though I'm still before the second badge and I'm grinding a lot to be cautious (though still reasonably leveled - I was 14 for the first gym when I'm usually 11-12)....
