Personally I have a single monitor and I'm just fine with it. I know desktops are more powerful, and the price-to-performance ratio is a lot better than that of a laptop, but I couldn't live without the portability. I'll gladly pay a little bit more for me to be able to pick my laptop up, take it to work with me, move around the house, lie down on my bed or the couch and use it, and not be confined to sitting at a desk all the time I want to use my computer. I just finished building a desktop for myself. It's actually the second one I've ever built, but the first was for a friend of my dad's. I've always stuck to using laptops, but when my last one went up I just decided to get a cheap laptop and build myself a gaming desktop - and I wound up getting a lot more power and upgradeability/serviceability for a lot less price.

I haven't yet, but I'm really skeptical about the shoehorning of a tablet interface in a desktop environment. A lot of developers are really unimpressed and seem to think it's going to be detrimental to PC gaming as well. I think I'll likely just stick with Windows 7 - it's my favorite version of Windows by far, and I don't see anything about 8 that makes me want to upgrade.]]> 18
