Is there a movie you're looking forward to in 2016 that I forgot to mention?
At the moment just "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story". I'm really interested to see how these "anthology" entries are going to be treated. I also enjoyed Gareth Edwards' take on Godzilla in 2014. The writing team on this film though, eeeehhhhh..... A handful of the rest I'll likely see, but I need the hype to build up first
For me: Must-See Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Captain America: Civil War Suicide Squad Doctor Strange Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Somewhat Interested Ghostbusters Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Assassin's Creed
Oh right, Cap3. Forgot about that. Yeah, looking forward to Civil War. I thought Cap2 was great. I like Iron-Man. I like Ant-Man. I like Black Widow. They're all in this movie. It's like the Avengers but without Thor and Hulk; which is great because I can't stand them
I really want to see Deadpool and The Witch. The latter is a smaller horror film, but it's supposed to be really good, and Deadpool is already a smash hit, so I'll have to see that. The BFG is actually catching my interest, as I really liked that book as a kid (assuming it's a movie adaptation), but that's probably a kid's movie. Ratchet and Clank is on my radar as well, but video game movies are always bad, but I do think that there's a lot of potential with the franchise, so I guess we'll see. I think I'll wait for reviews to come in on The Suicide Squad, Rogue One, Fantastic Beasts, and Finding Dory to decide if I'll go see them or not. Also, already nominating Angry Birds as a generic Sony cash grab film, but they have surprised me in the past.
Saw Ghostbusters. One of the worst movies I've seen in a long time. For a 'Comedy' it was mostly unfunny. Yelling doesn't automatically make your jokes funny, and this was essentially Leslie Jones' character for the whole movie. The only one who made me laugh was Chris Hemsworth's character (irony!) but even he got old fast. It also felt uninspired. There were lots of jokes, scenarios, and references from the original movie and it didn't come off as charming but lazy instead. Very disappointing and just plain annoying.
