Hot on the heels of the Japanese release of "The Great Ace Attorney" (or whatever they're going to call that Sherlock game), Capcom has announced that Ace Attorney 6 is in development. All we have is a logo (so I didn't think it was "officially" news-worthy, sorry Mork), that appears to show Phoenix pointing his accusatory finger like he means it. No idea if Takumi-san will be at the helm, as he was not for Dual Destinies being occupied with the development of the Layton X Wright game at the time. So, hurrah. Are you full of excite? I am, as this is welcome news I've been playing through these this year.
ehhhhhhhhh I'm tired of Phoenix. AA5 was terrible, didn't resolve a SINGLE loose end from AA4, and I'm assuming this game will be much the same since they're pushing Phoenix at the forefront again. Are we ever gonna find out anything from poor Apollo's game? Is Athena doomed to be just as ignored as him? I'm finding it hard to be excited but I guess we don't really know much about it yet so I shouldn't judge so soon. I'm also surprised that it's... already gonna be playable at TGS? Wow... I'm more upset over the fact that they've already announced they'll be localizing this, but still no peep on Daigyakuten. Are we just not getting that one then? I love the localizations for Ace Attorney. (Actually, literally while I was typing this post apparently Capcom France announced they won't be localizing it so uhh...) They're brilliant and, imo, much better than the original JP. I'd been avoiding importing DGS but if we aren't getting it at all, I'd rather play it in JP than not at all. :\
If Nintendo's willing to shell out money to support something as craptacular as Devil's Third, in my fanboy fueled fantasies I hope they might swoop in and bring The Great Ace Attorney to western shores if Capcom won't. Since they seem kind of chummy now after Sm4sh. I really want to play this game
I don't think they will. Talking briefly to a friend who played it, it's just going to be a tough localization. Even though it takes place in London with mainly English characters, it's chock-full of Meiji references, lots of Japanese lit references, and apparently a lot of imperialism and racism that would probably make people uncomfortable or would have to be censored. It's also not really in the same vein as the other Ace Attorney games so she says she completely understands why it's getting passed over. Still kinda disappointing, though.
