https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lyy7y0QOK-0 Is anyone looking forward to this movie like I am? It's probably my most anticipated movie of 2015, and I don't care if I have to see it alone, I'm watching it, haha. Chappie was stolen from where he was made, and is now being raised by this strange family. He's naturally gifted, and soaks up everything from his environment, much like children. Some people are scared of Chappie, and have made it their mission to kill him before something bad may or may not happen. I'm a bit nuts when it comes to light sci-fi, so I'm way too excited for this. It's directed by the same person who directed District 9, my favorite movie. I like Neill's down to Earth approach to movies, and he doesn't like to make things too Hollywood, so I'm expecting this to be very good. The only thing I'm concerned about is that some of the human characters seem to be stereotypical characters, a problem Neill has had in the past, so I'm curious to see if he's made attempts to overcome this. We all know that Chappie is going to die at the end, but at least it's going to be a sad, but glorious, death.
I never heard about this movie until you forced me to watch the trailer last night, lmao. It looks really fantastic! Chappie is utterly adorable and if they tell his story right it could be a great movie and pull some heartstrings when he inevitably dies at the end. I've only seen bits and pieces of District 9, but it's on my list of movies to watch sometime in the future. Somehow I don't think you're going to let me rest until I give in and watch it!
They seem completely different to me. The plot lines might be similar, but Chappie is a robot programmed to be human, versus the Iron Giant who is basically a death machine, and has to learn to be human. It's been forever since I've seen The Iron Giant, but from what I remember, a basic overview of the plot is where the similarities end.
