I liked the characters in FF6 a lot more, but vastly preferred pretty much everything else in CT.

Beat Shadow of the Colossus on Thanksgiving morning. Feels good to have beaten a game that's been on my backlog for over six years. Overall a great game all the way through - a few technical issues here and there, but it's a game I think everyone should play.

Beat New Super Mario Bros. Wii with my roommates tonight and now I never have to play it again oh god yes.

Hated the multiplayer in that game.

It makes a bad game worse :P

Anyway, speaking of bad games, I beat Metroid: Other M today. Nintendo, please don't let Team Ninja near that franchise again. That was a thoroughly underwhelming and dissapointing game. It didn't feel like Metroid at all. And the "personality" (loosely) they gave Samus was horrible

Whaaat? I loved Other M. :( It didn't have the same sense of exploration as other Metroid games, but it still felt like, well, a Metroid game. I also thought the story made sense, considering Samus had gone through a lot of stuff before the game. My only major gripes were that the first-person stuff felt really out of place, and that it was a pretty short game (I beat the game, found all upgrades, and beat Phantoon all under ten hours).

I didn't realize I was even near the end of the game when I got there XD Same with the post-game.

I didn't mind the first-person parts. They felt clunky at first. But I got the hang of it eventually.

Whatever the story (which was really book-endy), that was just a bad Samus. She's kicked Ridley's ass several times by this point in the overall continuity. Even metal/mecha versions. Why on earth was she absolutely terrified of him and immobile? She froze, turned into a little girl, and let her friend get attacked. She should have been all badass and be like "I've got this".

    Samus dissaproves! :P

Why is this game bad? Poor dialogue, Adam's restrictions on Samus' abilities, the significance given to hand gestures, and having Samus go from one of the most groundbreaking women in video games to someone completely dependent on men and who can't control her emotions.

Beat Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat in a single sitting.

Really short (at least to beat. I didn't "complete" it), but really was a lot of fun. I'm not a huge DK fan. I find the Country games frustrating in their pixel-perfect jumps (which is hard to judge with pre-rendered stuff. ...and yet I like Donkey Kong Land which should be more difficult since it is in black & white and 8-bit. Whatever). But this wasn't Country, not like them at all. For a number of reasons. Most importantly, it was made during that weird period in DK history between Rare and Retro. Thankfully Nintendo EAD Tokyo took over for this one. That stands out for me because they developed Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Super Mario 3D Land, and that to me means quality.

And it really comes through with this game. Very inventive and imaginative. It actually feels like you're playing as a gorilla for once. DK has a certain weight to him in the physics and he's a lot more beastly and physical than he is in the Country games. Some of the bosses playout like short rounds from Punch-Out. You get quite the workout playing it on the Wii too XD I have no idea how this game played with bongos back on the GCN ('cause no control stick). But with the Wiimote/nunchuck it was a lot of fun. No reliance on traditional platforming hop and bops either, by the way (for those of you who don't like it :P). I don't remember any bottomless pits, for one thing. You also benefit from not touching ground. The longer you're in the air collecting bananas, the greater your combo and ultimately the multiplier on the total number of bananas (important, as they are your life meter for the bosses)

This was one of the better and more original platformers I've played, not just on the Wii.

Lame New Super Mario Bros. Wii makes all the platforming money, when there are gems like this game and Kirby's Epic Yarn on the Wii. Too bad :(
