Nintendo will be hosting a Nintendo Direct broadcast rather than a traditional E3 press conference this year, which will go live on Tuesday, June 11, at 7:00am PDT (10:00am PDT). Post all your predictions, impressions, and thoughts before, during, and after the conference in this thread! This is meant to serve as a general discussion thread. Please feel free to make new threads for game announcements, other major announcements, or anything else you'd like to discuss! All our E3 news posts will be posted to this forum for commenting as well.
Right?? The only people I've ever met who didn't adore Snap are people who never had a chance to play it.
On Snap, they finally updated all models so they don't like they're from Stadium anymore. They have the assets. Just do it. I've learned over the years, that I can't predict what Nintendo will do at E3. We know what announced things we'll see: Pikmin 3, New Super Luigi U, The Wind Waker HD, Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, The Wonderful 101... A Link to the Past 2 too I'd wager. Probably not Pokemon X & Y as they don't usually show off the main entires at E3 - so hopefully Snap shows up instead? XDD Likely the next "3D" Mario, whatever that means. That's how Nintendo's referred to it. Does that mean the next iteration of 64/Sunshine/Galaxy on the Wii U, or Super Mario 3D Land 2? With two Zelda titles underway, I don't think we'll see much of anything for the Wii U game. If anything at all really. Maybe just concept art like we got when Skyward Sword was first announced. And Majora's Mask 3D, where are you? Won't happen until ALttP2 is out he door. Oh, Smash Bros. I think we'll see that. We almost always see a Kirby entry too. Something from that Yoshi Yarn game we were teased? Or the Yoshi's Island 3DS game. With Retro, Capcom, Next Level Games, etc., Nintendo's able to lease their franchises off to other capable hands rather well (and then there's Metroid: Other M :X). So, I'd like to see Nintendo dip into their history, drag something up and give it new life. Excitebike, Ice Climbers, Pilotwings, Wave Race, Murasame Castle. But probably won't happen :( I can see Wave Race and Murasame working though. Same thing with Star Fox and F-Zero, fix them before they die. And hopefully something new... but any time Nintendo comes up with a new IP, they don't show it to us, and end up skinning it to an existing franchise come release. So, who knows in what form we may see something. So, in short... everything and nothing at the same time.
As far as Nintendo has told us all... that they will be revealing The Legend of Zelda: Return to the Past, a Super Mario game, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD, The Wonderful 101 and a Super Smash Bros. game. But who knows what the new Super Smash Bros. game will be called? For all I know, it could be named "Super Smash Bros. Combat" or "Super Smash Bros. Battle". And what if the new Super Mario game was "Super Mario Sunshine HD" or a totally new Super Mario game? The only unconfirmed name that sounds pretty legit to us is "The Legend of Zelda: Return to the Past", which of course would make sense since it's a sequel to A Link to the Past. As for some games such that new Zelda game for the Wii U that would be a totally new entry into the franchise... most likely won't be shown until next year. The only Zelda game that we'll be most likely seeing in the Nintendo Direct is The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD. But for the games such as a new Star Fox (which I'd love to see) and F-Zero... is unlikely to be seen this year or even next year. I've kind of figured that the only choice Nintendo could make to continue the Star Fox franchise is to completely restart it all over again from scratch, like when they first made Star Fox 64, or create a prequel to Star Fox 64. I'm really excited for E3, and I'm so looking forward to seeing the Nintendo Direct on June 11th/12th! It starts at 12am in my time, so it's right on June 12th it seems.
I haven't heard of "Return to the Past" being thrown around. Title doesn't make sense to me since the original Japanese title for A Link to the Past is "Triforce of the Gods"
