I'm not too terribly excited about Ubi's conference. After my fallout with Assassin's Creed post-AC3, I'm not sure if I want to even try Black Flag or not-- it looks fun, but like AC3 before it, it doesn't look like Assassin's Creed anymore. Plus, I'm afraid that it might be bug-ridden like AC3. I think the game's presentation at E3 may honestly be make it or break it for the series to me. If they can prove that they still understand what Assassin's Creed is and what it needs to be, then I may give it a shot, but if not, then there are better games for me to play. One game I am excited to see is Watch_Dogs. I've been on a media blackout for the most part and have little to no idea about it aside from the fact that it looks like what the modern segments in AC3 should have been. I'm looking forward to it.
I don't know about Ubisoft...they were the best by far last year, but part of that was because everyone else flat-out sucked. AC3 looked really good last year (better than it turned out, from what I played so far), but I'm totally uninterested in AC4 at this point. I'm excited to see more of Watch Dogs, though, and hopefully they have a few more surprises in store.
Ubisoft tends to look good because they don't have to fuddle through any boring hardware stuff. Whereas all the others have to sell you hardware in addition to first and third party games, Ubisoft just tosses games at you. The most boring they get is dance games and exercise and since we see much worse than that at other conferences, even that seems mildly interesting. And then at their best they get to show off exciting games like Assassin's Creed. They know all this and build their conference around hype. The energy level is always great at Ubi's so it's fun to watch even if you don't care about what they're showing. If I watch Ubisoft's, it won't be because of genuine interest, it'll be for the ride.
EA doesn't have to worry about hardware and their conferences are usually lackluster. Of course, that's because EA's games are 95% sports and cookie-cutter shooters. Plus Ubisoft always has energetic (if usually over-the-top annoying) presenters.
I don't know if I'd call Ubisoft of EA's conferences exciting, but Ubisoft's is generally more entertaining due to better choices for presenters. I love E3 and look forward to it every year like Christmas, but watching live gameplay demos is like watching paint dry. I can't watch people play a game, I must be playing it.
I dread Ubisoft's conference. I'm fine with adding humour but they're just so unprofessional. Need I remind you? "Let's go back in time shall we?"
I didn't mind her. She's really cool and I think she suffers from lame script writing more than anything. :( She genuinely likes games though, which is more than can be said about a lot of execs that come out to talk, I bet.
