We've been holding back on updating IPB for the past two months in the hopes that the Wordpress bridge that we use would be made compatible. However, the author seems to have pulled the plugin indefinitely, and there has been no word on upgrading progress. Ultimately, we've made the decision to (hopefully temporarily) disable the plugin and continue with the upgrade. This means that we're now running up-to-date and secure versions of both IPB and Wordpress, but login functionality between the two is now going to have to be separate for the time being. If you've already logged into Wordpress with your IPB credentials, nothing should change for you! Most existing members (except for possibly a few that joined after the conversion to IPB) should still be able to log in to Wordpress and comment as usual. If you are a new member, it gets a bit trickier. Unfortunately, you'll have to register an account on the main site in order to comment on articles. You can do so through this link. Sorry for the inconvenience, but hopefully this will be temporary until our bridge gets updated or we find another option for integration between the site and forums.
Most recent poster doesn't show up in the New Posts page... which is kind of imperative since you removed that from the sidebar. ;;
Just figured that out...the plugin that allows group formatting throughout the forum caused it. I found another one that seems to be working fine. Also, if you're missing the lack of Ctrl formatting options like me, they're getting fixed in 3.4.3.
I'd go with status updates. It's easy to tell when there's a new post just by looking at the forums, but it's a bit harder to look through everybody's statuses.
Honestly, no one really uses the status updates and I vastly prefer the new posts to be right on the main page. :s We don't really get enough posts on a regular basis to make checking each forum individually for new posts all that worth it.....
