I personally play my PC games on my standard Asus laptop's keyboard, and I use an old Logitech mouse.
Do any of you use a gaming keyboard or laptop? Should I invest in them? In other words, do they really help your game a lot?

I don't, and I don't find it detrimental not to have one. I even have a wireless keyboard which is supposedly much worse because of the extra time it takes for your button presses to go through. But I'm also not a really heavy PC gamer, so your mileage may vary. My brother swears by his though. I think he's got Razer-brand keyboard and mouse? A bunch of sensitivity settings on the mouse and I'd imagine a lot of extra programmable keys on his keyboard but the sensitivity thing is the only one I would personally find useful.

I'd say upgrade to them if you find something nice on sale but otherwise I'd just stick to what you've got.

Yeah I honestly find they're more gimmick than useful. My keyboard and mouse work fine, it's not like they take 5 seconds to respond.
I even once played on my friend's computer with his gaming mouse. The ridiculously higher sensitivity of the mouse was too much to handle for me.

I just use the standard keyboard when it comes to gaming. I have a Microsoft wireless mouse that I use though because I can't stand the default laptop mouse.

I think it's one of those things where without it you do just fine, but once you have a high quality mouse and keyboard designed for gaming you can't imagine not having one. Personally, I have a Razr Naga mouse and I absolutely love it. Before I had it I felt perfectly fine just using a regular mouse, but now that I have a Naga I cringe every time I have to use a regular mouse.

P.S. You can turn down the sensitivity settings! :p

I have a Logitech G500 that I only use when I'm gaming on the PC (which isn't too often). Otherwise I use my old, crappy wireless mouse. I don't have a gaming keyboard though - most of the time I just use my laptop keyboard or the wireless keyboard that goes with the mouse.

I'm kind of considering getting a gaming mouse, since I do play FPS quite a bit on my laptop.
Right now I have this really old corded Logitech mouse.
And yeah, my friend's mouse was a lot more sensitive but I'm sure I could get used to it and probably be able to aim more quickly with it.

    Four year bump!

Since I've been doing a lot more PC gaming the past year or two, I thought I'd revisit this thread. I still have my G500 mouse that's still going strong, and recently I picked up a Logitech G710+ mechanical keyboard. The keyboard doesn't matter so much for gaming, but it's so much nicer to type on than my old crappy wireless keyboard and you don't have to worry about it cutting out and the like. I got the brown switches that give just a hint of feedback but don't have the annoying click that the blue switches do. The backlighting is nice to have as well.
