Here's a thread about pets, in light of the fact that I think I just scared my fish so hard he injured himself. :( All I did was put my finger close to the glass to see if he'd follow it and he flipped his shit, darting all over the tank until he accidentally hit the pagoda decoration in it hard enough it moved. /sigh So, anyone else have any pets? I've always wanted a cat, or something more exotic like a snake or a tarantula, or a rat (okay rats aren't very exotic) but my parents refused when I was a kid and now that I'm older, they still refuse and I also don't really want to have to take care of anything. So all I've ever been allowed is fish. For the last 8 years, my family's regularly kept a betta in the kitchen. I've been in charge of naming pretty much all of them so they've almost all been named after video game characters. Current fish is a white betta named Xemnas who, somewhat unlike his counterpart, is kind of a tool. But he's cute so I love him anyway. n_n
You can keep your snake, tarantula, or rat. >:| I have a dog named Rusty - a tan and white rat terrier to be exact. He's 14 years old, pretty much blind, and has chronic ear infections, but he still plays like a puppy and has a lot of personality.
I have a freakin' hamster and it's not by choice. My wife has been trying to get a cat for the longest time and I refused. Well, just recently her mother went out of town and we had to watch her Hamster. Since then, it's never left and apparently it's not going to. I can hear the dang thing running in the wheel through all hours of the night. As you can tell, I'm not very happy with the rodent. :p
I don't think I'd mind a hamster, but I'd be worried about them getting loose, and they only live for a couple years. As soon as I got attached to one it would be dead.
I've had two fish in my lifetime. Got them at the same time. One lasted a few days and one lasted seven years. It probably could have lasted longer. Died because it got caught in the tank tree decoration.
I've never really seen the appeal in hamsters and honestly, while I kinda like the idea of owning mice or a rat, I'd be too scared to ever let them out of their cage. xD; They're so small and quick, I'd probably lose them way too easily. Only thing around that size I'd be okay letting run around is probably a ferret but I'm not sure you can even keep those as pets here. ; That and my house is really too big for any kind of pet. ;~;
I have no pets, even though I looooove dogs. They just go nuts whenever I'm around, hehe, I dunno, me and animals get along really well together for some reason. But nope, don't have any pets and never really had. Unless you count that fish I had once. Fish aren't real pets anyway. //shot
I have a cat at my mom's named Cooper. But we don't call him Cooper. We...call him everything other than Cooper. I like to call him Fluff Butt, Wuffles, Noodle, Sexy, Beautiful, Lover, etc. He's the prettiest cat ever. ;o;
I have a cat and a dog. The dog is a beagle named Sparky, and he's going on thirteen years old. When he was younger he was really annoying, he'd bark all the time and never came in when we called him haha. Now he's just old, he can barely see and has bad arthritis in his back legs so he almost never goes out of his bed anymore. My cat is named Rascal, and he's adorable
