Are there any games that you really enjoyed years ago or that were generally considered great for their time, but when you come back to them years later you find them to be borderline unplayable? Or games that just generally haven't aged well at all, whether graphically or gameplay-wise?

I find Tales of Symphonia really hard to play after later games with Free Run, yet for years and years it was my favourite game. It's really annoying because I want to play it again but every time I try, it's just... hard to get into. :( I don't think I've ever gotten very far in a replay since Tales of the Abyss came out and now that I've played Graces, I'm worried I'll never be able to get into ToS again unless they redo it and fix the system around.

Starting to replay the first Kingdom Hearts at the end of last year made me realize just how far the series has come, and just how clunky a lot of aspects of the gameplay are. The combat is slow, the camera is atrocious, and the graphics don't hold up too well anymore either.

Really? I've never had a problem with KH's graphics. I didn't really get the point of an HD release, tbh (not that I was going to argue it). :x The cartoony style makes it work pretty indefinitely, imo. It's a bit blurry, I guess, if you're running it through VGA but otherwise, I've never had a complaint.

Camera and combat though, especially in the non-FM version... yeah.

An old Genesis game called Bubsy the Bobcat. I loved it as a kid; now, not so much.

Playing Pokemon Red Version last summer made me realize just how far that series has come in terms of gameplay. It's so much better now. The gameplay mechanics in Gen 1 are broken. Just have a team of Psychic types and you're pretty much guaranteed to win.

Dark Cloud really surprised me. I remember loving the first, but after I played it at a friend's recently, I wondered why I ever played it. It was terrible. Everything about it was awful. xD"
Dark Cloud 2 is still wonderful, but idk what I was thinking with the first. The graphics, the gameplay, the mechanics, the story, all of it were awful. :c

I own the first Dark Cloud, but I never could get into it because of how terrible it was. Between the random dungeons and the awful weapon system I just never got far at all into it.

I've never played the games myself, but my best friend as a kid loved the series. From what I could tell - and this is going off my memory - the two games were hardly similar at all. They even had different names outside of America.

I remember really liking Dark Cloud. I made it to the world before the end and then eventually lost that save. I've been wanting to pick it up again lately and now you guys are making me scared. :'(
