Think Angry Birds is just a fad? A game that simply appeals to those who don't play games? Well, Miyamoto thinks otherwise, "There aren’t many games that I’ve played recently that have been truly convincing to me. But that said, I have very much enjoyed Angry Birds, especially the way in which it combines traditional and new game elements in exciting ways. Angry Birds is a very simple idea but it’s one of those games that I immediately appreciated when I first started playing, before wishing that I had been the one to come up with the idea first.” Well, there you have it. One of, if not the, most influential people in gaming saying that he wished he had made Angry Birds. What do you guys think? Do you think Angry Birds is on par with Mario and Zelda? I don't think so. Yes, it can be addictive and fun and appeal to a lot of people, but if Angry Birds, the way it exists now, was the work of Miyamoto, I would say it would be one of the worst games he produced.
I found Boom Blox to be a very Miyamoto-esque game. And since Angry Birds is just mobile Boom Blox, I can see why it'd appeal to him. Especially since lately he's been all "there are too many buttons. I want to make a game that just uses one button".
