Do you have a habit of buying games randomly if you see something interesting or on sale? Or do you meticulously budget every game and only buy things on your "must have" list when they go on sale? If you do impulse buy, what was the last thing you picked up and why did you spring for it? :( I'm unfortunately a member of the impulse crowd. I've been getting better, especially this year, but I still slip up now and again. Steam sales are the worst for it but I also caved and bought Nier yesterday since I found it used for $15. A friend's been hassling me to get it and I wouldn't pay $20+ so finding it at that price finally made me buy it. I was hoping to wait until I had time to play it before buying it though...
I'm not an impulse buyer. When it comes to video games I know what I want and what I'm out to get. I won't even go to the store without looking up a game online first. I pretty much find the game I want on GameStop.com and then go get it wherever it is the cheapest.
The only time I'm an impulse buyer is if I'm in a store and I see something on clearance or on sale that's drastically reduced, and it's something I've been wanting to play. Then I'll snatch it up. Otherwise I'm pretty meticulous about planning my game purchases and getting the best deal.
I guess I do this too sometimes but it happens very rarely. Sometimes I will buy a game out of curiosity... like a greatest hits game. That's how I first played LBP and found out that I actually liked it.
This, basically. I don't impulse buy. Even if something is dirt cheap, if I've never wanted to play it, I'm not going to buy it.
I only buy on impulse in one of two cases: 1) A game is marked down to a very low price and is an absolute must-buy 2) When I have enough money to spend on something random (Not very often) My last impulse buy was Darksiders, for the 360. After buying Sonic Unleashed, I didn't like it, so I got a refund for it and bought Darksiders with the money. I don't regret it, it's a good game.
Nah I definitely plan out my game purchases. I primarily play CoD, so that's one game each year in November. Since I got into the series with MW2, I also got CoD 4 a few months later, but I plan to make sure I have enough money.
I'm very picky with my gaming purchases. I will only ever go for buying RPGs, and even then, they would have to be a certain type of RPG and whatnot, so I very rarely rely on my impulses to ever purchase anything. If I'm going to buy a game, I make sure I do all of my research first on it and whatnot before making that decision to buy it, whether there's some sort of sale/deal going on or not.
