I know we have some Minecraft players here, so I thought we might as well have a thread for it! I honestly don't think the game is for me. The thought of just building things with no particular aim doesn't really appeal to me, and I've tried the demo and I'm just not creative enough of a person, I guess. Some of the things people make in Minecraft are absolutely incredible though.
I've got Minecraft and I do enjoy it a lot (although I haven't played it in a while as I was busy). Anyway, the best part of Minecraft for me is playing with others and working together to build something amazing - if only I could create a multiplayer server.
The demo for Minecraft definitely sets a bad example of what the actual game is about. It is true that there is no actual objective, but you can kind of create your own. You can explore, build, farm, fight and just do whatever. The game is really fun and I have enjoyed playing it, but I have not played it recently because I am worried if I start up again, I will become addicted.
I've never really got too into depth with Minecraft, but I play it at my friend's house a lot. I guess the whole magic of it is that you can do whatever you want and just have fun with it. It kind of reminds me of Super Mario 64, where you could play for hours and accomplish absolutely nothing, just running around and having fun.
I just purchased minecraft today, though in all honestly it didn't really sound appealing to have something to come along and blow up your hard work. But from what I have played, I couldn't find any information on how to craft stuff.
I bought it for my brother when it was still in alpha because he wanted it, so I've played on his account a few times but I just... couldn't get the hang of it. :( I didn't like experimenting to make things and the only time I could make anything was when he was watching over my shoulder and telling me how to do everything. I was much more keen to explore than build but it meant I was essentially wandering around doing nothing. I did play a map pack my brother had (or... or whatever they're called in Minecraft) which was kind of an obstacle course where you had to follow hints and use your knowledge of crafting to get to the end alive and that sort of thing was really fun for me, but again... I had to listen to my brother to make EVERYTHING. :[ So I've given it a try here and there but it's just not my thing. :c
I think to find out how to craft bigger objects you can search up on Google or watch some YouTube videos. Either that or just fool around and test different combinations of materials.
I've debated about whether or not I was going to play this game and I finally decided against it. It just looks very boring and I don't want to build stuff all day long. I would rather play Sims or Age of Empires for something like that.
Ugh I love Minecraft so much. The possibilities are endless and there is so much to do. I can't wait for 1.8 because it's going to add a large amount of adventure into the game.
