I'm sure everyone's seen videos of people freaking out while playing Slender, but has anyone here actually gotten the nerve to try it for themselves? If you don't know what I'm talking about, here's a page with some info and a download link.

I'm not good with jump scares, so I haven't worked up the nerve to play it for myself, but I do like watching vids of the game and the various mods/scenarios.

I kinda wanna play this. I've been avoiding watching any LPs of it or really finding out about any of it so that I don't spoil myself for it but I have to find the time to get around to it. :(

    Sounds interesting...

For the last couple of years, I've been playing Luigi's Mansion or Ghostbusters around Halloween time because I don't have any legitmate scary games XD But, this might be a contender. I've seen videos though and for the life of me I can't figure out why people scream out in fear. Does not look scary at all

I think it's the fact that you're constantly being pursued and there's no escape. Plus there's a jump scare element when he's right there.

It's very, very different playing and watching scary games. I cannot stress enough how easy it is to watch someone play something when you're removed from the action compared to controlling the character yourself, haha.

Also, they're all playing in the dark with noise-cancelling head phones (which, I don't feel like investing in for this).

But, even with the jump scare element, he... just looks like one of the balloon figures with the long arms you'd find at a used car sale. XD

But still, the tense music and the big chord that strikes when he gets you add to it. No matter how ridiculous he looks. XD

    Okay, played it tonight.

    Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaame.

    Lame. Lame. Lame. Super lame.

So, I immediately shut off my flash light because I figure that'd give me away. Instead I determined where I was going by looking at the tree tops for an opening. Once and a while I would turn on the flashlight because it would get way too dark at times to see anything. After I made it to one page, I just left the flashlight on because it made things more interesting to look at instead of pure darkness.

Shortly after the first page he "found me". Or, I assume he did. I sure didn't see him anywhere. Everything got super static-y. I evaded him and just went in another direction. And that was that. Just kept going on my merry way. lol I was hoping he'd chase me. Or something. Or I'd see him out of the corner of my eye. Nothing.

I found another page. And then I got lost. XD

After wandering around aimlessly for 15 minutes and coming across things that looked like they should have a page but didn't for some reason (rock formation, a building I explored three times). He just suddenly got me.

Just... suddenly. I didn't see him anywhere. I didn't hear him. I wasn't being chased. Music didn't change. I was just walking along, then fast static, the chord, and him.

How is everyone getting an "omg he's behind me" or "omg I think I saw him!" feeling when he doesn't do that at all o_O You basically just get game over at random.

Pffff... indie games. This is why I don't get you. Internet hype about being a refreshing godsend, and then you never deliver.

This game is the scariest thing ever oh my god. When Slendy gets you, it feels like he's going to jump through the screen and get you in real life too.

It's buggy as hell which only adds to the terror. My friends and I spent an evening playing it, Chinese food went all over the room when we freaked the hell out lmao

I think it's the psychological element that makes it scariest. You have a goal but you don't want to work towards it because the more notes you pick up, the better Slendy gets at finding you.
