Actually, I saw on NeoGAF that someone bought the iPhone version, but it wouldn't let them install it on an iPad. Square locked the cross-compatibility in that sense.

    Wow, cheap much? :(

A twitter friend of mine picked up the iPhone version (and a few others the iPad). They changed partners completely and most people seem to prefer the new method. Instead of controlling both characters simultaneously, from what I could tell, your partners function as a pin. So any time you want to let them have a go at the enemy, you active their pin and they'll go in for an attack or a combo if you hit the pin a few times. You still "pass the puck" to get your sync rate higher but you do it on the same screen.

It sounds easier to control if you never got the hang of checking both screens. I hate to brag, but I was really, really good at the game, though, and the new controls sound awful to me. I was really good at handling both screens and not having the simultaneous damage boost from my partner--plus not being able to directly control when I got their special attacks--kind of just sounds like a totally watered down battle system tbh.

I'm interested to see how they've altered some battles to the new style, though. Like the third GM fight? That completely relies on both screens because action and strategy happens on both. And the second GM fight will be pretty nerfed now if you only have to watch the one screen. :/

I'm with Erica. It took me forever to learn, but once I got the hang of it I was really good at controlling both players. The thought of practically eliminating half the combat system just doesn't appeal to me at all.

the two twewy threads should really just be merged lol. Not sure where to put this so I'm just gonna toss it here since it's an article/interview/snippet about the iOS game.

Magazine leaks! I don't know what magazine exactly (guessing Jump or famitsu) or how accurate they are. Nabbed the link off someone I follow on Twitter who is pretty quick with Square-Enix news.

    http://toro.2ch.net/.../1346011898/398

The first image is a quick quote from the director of TWEWY. The sentence with the read highlight reads as follows:
    * this part is cut off so I'm guessing. Also the rest of the paragraph is generic "please play this port it is good we promise :)".

So that's exciting. And certainly a better deal than just a port whether it's a new addition to the IP or additional content for the iOS version. Although I'm kind of happy either way since there's no way I'm buying the iOS version unless they add something. Hoping it implies the iOS game is just to tide us over for something better, though. :[

Apparently the ending of the iOS port teases a sequel:

"New 7 Days" definitely sounds like there's a sequel coming.

I got this game last week since it was on sale, and damn it is great. The visuals look better than ever, and the audio is better too-- especially the soundtrack, which now has the full-length tracks instead of short edits, in addition to new songs, like the Kingdom Hearts 3D remixes. If you ask me, the single-screen combat is actually kind of better too, and the little minigames that you play after fully synchronizing with your partner is cool.

If you just played the DS version with the top screen on auto pilot like I did, chances are this might be the definitive version for you. :P

I actually used the top screen and mastered the controls, so I'm not in any hurry to try a stripped-down version. :P

The soundtrack changes sound great though. Didn't know there were minigames...explain please?

After you fill up the sync meter by switching attacks between you and your partner, you tap the sync button at the top-right of the screen and enter a minigame that's different depending on who your partner is. For example, Shiki's is a simple "find two matching cards" game, while Joshua's has you tap the correct sequence of numbers. The farther you get in each game, the more damage the sync attack does. Each one is timed, so it's pretty intense.
