Since it's coming in just a few short weeks, and If you're running Windows 7 or 8 you get a free upgrade, is anyone planning on making the jump to Windows 10? Or are you content with your current operating system? What do you like/dislike about what you've seen about 10 so far?
I'm gonna upgrade my media PC from Windows 8 to 10 the moment I get home in September, but I'm a little hesitant to upgrade my Windows 7 desktop to 10 until a little more time has passed. I mean, I have heard some good things about 10 but I love 7 so much that if there are even a handful of things that bother me in 10, I don't want to have to deal with them. I want some first-hand experience before I commit to upgrading on my main Windows machine. If it was possible to put 10 on my (very old) Mac without selling the souls of my three firstborn children, I'd do that in a heartbeat to check it out but alas, I can't even get Windows 7 on this thing. ~_~
I'll probably upgrade my computer in my office at work this week since it's running 8.1, just to try out 10 and get a feel for it. If I actually like it, I'll upgrade my home PC. It looks like there are some interesting new features, but there are a lot of things that make me want to stick with 7 - privacy concerns, ads, forced updates, etc.
So there's just over a month until the free upgrade promotion ends. Who has and hasn't gotten Windows 10 installed yet? I've been tribooting between Windows 7, 10, and Linux, so I haven't had to worry much about the upgrade, although Microsoft's aggressive tactics to get people to upgrade have been rather infuriating since I don't need my 7 partition to update since 10 came OEM on my laptop.
I finally upgraded a couple months ago. Did a fresh install and all the little issues I had last time when I tried an in-place upgrade seem to not exist after starting fresh. Pretty much gotten used to it now - I still miss the sleekness of 7 and some of the interface of 10 is meh, but it does seem to run a litle snappier.
