So far, 2012 has had a lot of good games, but as we all know, the best of the bunch tend to be released later on in the year. What are some of your most anticipated games of 2012? Call of Duty: Black Ops II - I know it might be a bit pathetic to start my list off with a dudebro-pew-pew-shooter, but I really like Treyarch's CoD games. :P Black Ops had a pretty good story for a Call of Duty game, and I have no doubt that Black Ops II's story will be just as good, if not better. While I'm sure the multiplayer will be a blast (Though samey), what I'm really looking forward to is Zombies. 8-player Zombies sounds amazing, and I can't wait to see how the 4v4vZ mode plays out. I just wonder how the Zombies story is gonna work, (Moon spoilers) considering Dempsey, Takeo, Nikolai, and Samantha incinerated Earth at the end of Moon. Assassin's Creed III - Assassin's Creed is my favorite series to come out this generation, even if the first game and Revelations didn't have much lasting value. I'm excited to see how the modern-day story ends (I really hope they go into more detail about (The Lost Archive spoilers) how Lucy was a Templar, though. :c), and I also can't wait to see if they go through with George Washington being a Templar. :P The gameplay looks fantastic as well; I'm looking forward to hunting in the Frontier. Okami HD - It might not exactly be a new game, but regardless, I'm stoked for the re-release. Okami was beautiful in its first two releases, and I can only imagine that it'll look even better on PlayStation 3. I just hope it sells better than it has in the past; if it doesn't, I doubt we'll ever have any sequels, Okamiden aside. Dust: An Elysian Tail - I'm usually not a huge fan of sidescrolling RPG's, but Dust has me hooked. It looks fantastic, and the gameplay looks just as fluid as the animations. The story seems like it might be a bit cliché (Guy wakes up with amnesia, sets out on a quest with a sentient sword and a cute flying fuzzy creature), but regardless, it looks like it'll be a lot of fun to play. Also, since I'm a furry, I naturally can't resist this game, regardless. :V Rock Band: Blitz - There've been a ton of Rock Band and Guitar Hero games, but very few games have played like Rock Band: Unplugged, and in turn, Harmonix's PS2 games Frequency and Amplitude. Blitz looks like it'll play similarly to those three games, which is what I'm really excited about. I'm also happy that all of the Rock Band series DLC will work with the game.
My most anticipated game of 2012 was Kingdom Hearts 3D but it's already out so I guess it doesn't count. xD; Journey: Collector's Edition I'm so glad I was too cheap to buy this game earlier. I'll definitely take an upgraded version with two other games instead! I'll probably be picking this up pretty close to release. Okami HD Because I've been wanting to play it again and look forward to the graphical upgrade. And being able to play it without hooking up a PS2. Penny Arcade Adventures: Episode 3 Yeah, this came out last week but I haven't picked it up yet (was hoping the Steam sale might discount it but I think it won't start until after the buy-early bonus is over with so I'll be buying it soon). I loved the first two games and really wanted this sequel. And uhh... maybe Pokemon Black & White 2 but I've seen so many spoilers for them that I'm not very excited about them anymore. I'll pick 'em up but probably not until Christmas.
Short list... Assassin's Creed III I've enjoyed all the Assassin Creed games more or less (excluding the handheld ones since I've never played those) and all the new gameplay elements and the new setting has me very excited. Pokemon Black 2 Despite the fact that I pretty much know this game inside and out already I'm still looking forward to it.
World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria A little iffy on this, I'm still not sure I like the changes they're making and I still can't take it seriously with that name. But alas, it is WoW so naturally I'm excited for it. Orcs Must Die 2 I absolutely loved the first one and I can't wait for the second one, especially since it has co-op! I can't really think of any others ._.
Really, the only games I can think of off the top of my head that I want this fall are Pokemon Black/White 2 and Assassin's Creed III. I'm sure I'll wind up getting Borderlands 2 too just because some of my friends and I will play co-op like we did with the first.
B/W2 kind of, AC3, and that's kind of it. Borderlands 2 looks good though, BLOPS2 looks decent as well.
I'm not sure. Maybe Black & White 2. Don't know why, since I've been kinda disenchanted with the series after the last few entries. But I want to play this, and lately I've just been wanting to play a Pokemon game again (but my backlog is too large to allow that XD) Uhh.. and, sadly, New Super Mario Bros. U. I know, I'm supposed to hate this franchise. But, from what little I've seen it does seem to be the most original in the subfranchis and actually adds some new and interesting game mechanics for once. Baby Yoshi power ups But I don't think I'm even getting the Wii U, so meh.
Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon has been pushed to 2013. I guess that's one less thing to look foward to this year. Oh well, as Miyamoto says, "A delayed game is eventually good, a bad game is forever bad."
