Yeah but that's just for extra perks. There are no core functions of the gaming network that you actually have to pay for with PSN Plus.
It's annoying the living heck out of me. ;; Right before they shut it down, I had finally started playing AC: Brotherhood online, and loved it... Now, not only do I want to play it, but I've also got Portal 2, and soon, I'll have my copy of Dead Space 2 back. I really hope it comes back online soon.
If the service was paid, then the whole 'console wars' debacle would probably be applicable in some aspects (and even then, I wouldn't be so sure). Considering the fact that it's free, though? Nah. PSN goes back up, people forget about the whole thing 3 weeks later.
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/109866-Sony-Denies-May-31-Deadline-For-PSN-Return So yeah...Sony backtracks again. "We never said it'd be up by May 31st!"
http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011/05/14/play-on-–-psn-restoration-begins-now/ Aaand apparently the backtrack was a bluff? As far as I can tell from that article, they're trying to bring it back up (in the US, at least) in full starting right now.
Yeah. That map isn't showing any states up yet though, so I guess it'll take a while before you start seeing people getting service restored.
Let me guess, it is going to be a while before the UK get anything. At least it is progress though!
So, just got on today and found out I get 4 free games, 2 on my PS3 account, and 2 on my PSP. Considering I lost absolutely nothing except some time online, that makes me pretty happy.
I'm still not sure what games I want. I have inFamous and LBP already on the PS3, so they're out. I'm having a hard time deciding if I want Dead Nation or Super Stardust, and I'll probably get Wipeout.
I got Dead Nation and LBP. I would have gotten Super Stardust if I had already owned LBP. Dead Nation is pretty sweet, like DOA Nazi Zombies with L4D type gameplay.
