A Message from Capcom ... This is the first time I've been genuinely angry and sad at a game being canceled. If you ask me, Mega Man is officially dead, as is any love I had left for Capcom. I find that last bit in their statement funny, though... "We hope that you will continue to support the Mega Man franchise." How can I do that if you don't have any future releases planned for it? :V Also, I'm not supporting any of their other franchises, as much as I love Resident Evil and Okami. They're not getting my money until they wise up. Tl;dr: Capcom, I am RAAAAAGE disappoint.
I've never been a Mega Man fan, but I know a lot of MM fans and 3DS owners in general were really looking forward to this game. I don't think boycotting will do anything though, and I can't imagine them not making anymore Mega Man games - the retro-themed numbered entries in the series sold a lot, iirc.
Boycotting them will at least let them know what a huge mistake they made. |3 Though we'll see if I actually go through with my plan, I usually give up once a game comes out that looks REALLY good. (Like Resident Evil: Revelations, that looks amazing) The retro-like games did sell a lot, but that's the thing: that's all they're relying on, and even then, the only retro game they had planned got canceled a few months ago. They seem to have given up on X, Zero, ZX, Legends (duh), Battle Network, and Star Force. Those last two are sorta understandable, though; they were really fun, but they got a really bad reputation for not really being different between sequels.
This is sickening. Dear God, is this serious? After what we all experienced in MMX7, it deserved a quiet put down. Zero I thought was pretty good; too, but like X it just needed to end. This is legitimately disappointing. Capcoms reasoning is completely bogus, too. Look at all the insanely idiotic titles released on current Nintendo systems (NDS, Wii, soon to be 3DS) and how completely horrible they are. Regardless if they aren't being made by capcom or not, they're still selling. I swear the MML fanbase is the most underground fanbase ever and Capcom just doesn't realize it. Nothing in this post is particularly intelligent, and I apologize. I'm just universally pissed the fuck off right now.
I'm going to say that I think Mega Man may be through. Nintendo just struggles to release their old classic 2D games into a new 3D environment and Mega Man has been apart of that struggle with multiple games being canceled this year alone.
