... Am I the only person who thinks Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2, and Metal Gear Solid all still play pretty well? :(
...I didn't find the controls very intuitive when I played but I also didn't find the controls of the much more recent MGS4 all that intuitive either so I think I just didn't mesh well with them.
The gunplay is really, really, really bad. Also some things like walking two steps into a room, setting off laser traps, then getting Codec call two seconds later saying "Don't set off the laser traps that are in this room!" And when you're crawling through vents it's next to impossible to see where you're going, especially on modern TVs.
I always liked to pretend that my codec people were just really passive aggressive assholes every time I played so after I'd trigger something I obviously wasn't meant to trigger they'd call up to make fun of me for it by telling me not to do it. :( Made it easier to sympathize with them because I really must have been the worst person they ever had to babysit through a mission.
Thinking about doing some gaming events around here - maybe a L4D2 event in October to celebrate Halloween. Anyone have any ideas/requests? Could be tournaments, gaming nights, contests...whatever.
I've heard the resolution kind of sucks on it, but it's really immersive. Virtual reality games just...don't sound appealing to me at all though. And people also were getting pinkeye from the demo units at PAX, so I don't think I would want to try one at a public event.
