What I see at E3 will probably go pretty far in deciding if I want to upgrade to a WiiU or not, probably. :x And I'd love to see some in depth stuff on BW2 also.

If you ask me, Nintendo had the worst conference at the show this year. It started off good with Pikmin 3, but that was the only thing that got me really excited. Everything else was either a port (Not necessarily bad) or a rehash (Definitely bad). I'm personally sick and tired of these "New" Super Mario Bros. games.
DISSSAAAPPOINTED!!! Pikmin 3 was great yeah, looks great, Rockmin is cool. But...that was it really. Two New Super Mario games that I don't really care about, little new info on Paper Mario and Luigi's Mansion, and no new major titles were announced really. No Zelda, no DK, no Kirby, no F-Zero (really upset about that one) and no new IP. Whatever Nintendo announces in their behind closed doors conference better be incredible because they for sure lost E3. I wish Nintendo Land existed in real life :(
Nintendo does know they're releasing a new console this fall right? No release date. No price. More importantly, no games. Pikmin 3, yay. But we've known they've been working on it for ages. Four years at least. I don't count it as new. It looks good, but... not amazing. It looks like if they made a high-end Wii game and ran it at a nicer resolution (like those Dolphin emulation screenshots that float around). It didn't look how I would have wanted it to look. I actually wanted it to capture the plasticine look of the official art on the previous games. It didn't seem special. Aside from that... two NSMB games. Bleck. The NSMB games are for people who never played the old Mario platformers. They just pale in comparison. They are boring, bland, and uninspired and lack features from games from over 20 years ago. I've have been fine with a 3D Land 2, Galaxy 3, a 64-type game, or something new altogether. Or even whatever "Super Mario 4" was going to be. But I hate NSMB with a passion. They have a huge arsenal of franchises, but they weren't here. They're partners weren't here either. Retro? Intelligent System? Monolith? Project Sora? etc. Miyamoto is working on a new IP. Where was it? This was the time to show all of this. But it wasn't there. It has to be there or this is a horrible launch line up for me. Pikmin 3 isn't enough to get me to by the system this year. I don't need ports of games I already have, and very slim chance that I'll want either NSMB game. Even if there aren't games for launch... what about next year? You could show nothing? Is nothing being worked on? We saw 3DS games last E3 that we're seeing again this E3. Why couldn't they go that far in advance with the Wii U. It just looks dead on arrival. There's nothing there
If anyone was hoping their roundtable discussion would make up for their conference, I'm sorry to say it didn't. The only big things revealed were: - The twelve franchises featured in Nintendo Land - You can transfer save data and Shop Channel content from the Wii to the Wii U - Miiverse has an inappropriate language filter, as well as a spoiler filter for games - There's a chance that Nintendo Land will be packaged with the Wii U No mention of any new games or anything. :/ I'm not looking forward to their 3DS feature tomorrow night.
Literally the only thing from any of the Nintendo conferences that I wanted was the gorgeous pink 3DS that all the demos were playing on during the 3DS conference. It's so pretty! The perfect colour! If/when I get an English 3DS, I'm definitely going with that one. But they didn't say anything about it or announce new colours or anything, so hopefully it was more than just for show. (Also, watching the conferences made me want Nintendo things even less. I was pretty excited for some games, like Paper Mario, but now I have pretty much no interest.)
Pikmin 3, yes please! Another New Super Mario Bros, sure I'll take it. I wish they'd just call it Super Mario Bros though, since it's been several years and it isn't so new anymore. A bunch of ports too, which are cool I guess, but no point in picking up a whole new console JUST for these. I was really hoping for more first party games. Give me a new Super Mario, Kirby, Fox, Animal Crossing (for the Wii U), anything else! Just thought it was lackluster and blah.
They're not the exactly the same series though. The New! subseries is crappy, for starters. And the old games (1-3 + World) aren't. I view the New! games as reboot/separate subseries. They aren't as fun or charming as the old games. They don't have as many or the same powerups, the level design feels different, they're missing some moves. They don't feel like sequels to the old games because they don't build off of the old games. The first New! kind of restarted to something slightly more advanced than the original SMB, and they still haven't made something that matches World yet. These are new games, but the first over 20 years old. No good.
