It's too late for the free games - that promotion ended on Thursday night.
And Paper Mario only has a 2012 release window - Nintendo's being really secretive about 3DS game releases for some reason.

Oh that's too bad, and not really fair to the people who bought the game for the full price. I guess I wouldn't have got the free games anyways, right?
And hmm I hope it comes out early 2012, it would be awful for it to come out in over a year.

If you bought the 3DS at full price, then you would be eligible for the games as long as you signed into the ehop by the cut-off date

Pretty sure he said he was probably going to pick up a 3DS soon, he doesn't already have one. :x

I know. But he was saying that the promotion's end wasn't fair to people who paid full price.

But, if you bought it for full price, then you had every opportunity to take advantage of the promotion.

Sadly the ambassador program couldn't motivate me even if I had been in the market for a 3DS. I already own almost every NES and GBA game Nintendo ever developed T_T

I think the promotion was a good idea, but I basically meant it's not fair to people who bought the 3DS for full price and then missed the cut-off date.
Since the $80 price drop is permanent, I think the free games for the people who paid full price should be as well.

There's absolutely no way for them to be able to tell who paid full price for the system though. That's why the free game promotion ended at the same time the price drop officially went into effect. Obviously, if you logged into the eShop before that time, you paid full price for the system, but there would be no way for them to tell afterwards.

Hmm yeah, I see what you mean.
Ideally they'd be able to tell by the serial number or something like that, when the 3DS was purchased and therefore for what price.
I suppose if the free games were permanently available that would encourage too much trickery from people trying to get free games.

What do you make of the upcoming 3DS event?

I don't think it will be the Lite. It'd be unprecedented in how fast it would be released from the original. And announcing it just before the holidays would destroy their sales since everyone will hold out waiting for the Lite version.

I'm thinking games, a bit of a reminder to keep in consumers mind for the holidays, maybe a new colour, a bundle for the holidays... That seems likely to me.

Going out on a limb, I'd say a major firmware update or a major accessory providing new functionality
