I really don't think the price cut or the free games will help the 3DS. There are, pretty much, no good titles coming out for it and, for me, the NGP has already beat it on just release games alone.
I am seriously considering selling my 3DS.

How aren't there good titles coming out?

Mario, Mario Kart, Kid Icarus, Paper Mario, Luigi's Mansion are already announced and due for release soon.

Will has an unexplainable hatred for Nintendo and all its properties. :/

I agree with Kaga as well, Nintendo needs to adjust its marketing strategy. Right now the public just thinks it's another iteration of the DS...especially since it's been designed with the core gamer in mind, and yet Nintendo still is promoting it with the same expanded audience type commercials that it used for Wii and DS.

And that's a problem. The Blue Ocean ship has sailed.

The 3DS isn't much worse off than the DS was at this point in it's life in terms of game quantity and quality. For the longest time all we had on the DS was Super Mario 64 DS. Right now, all we have is Ocarina of Time 3D. So... we're in the same boat.

However, Nintendo saw and went after the casual market before anyone else did the first time around with the DS and the Wii, and it worked. But that same audience doesn't see the 3DS as a new system, and it won't see the Wii U as a new system. They're just different version in their eyes, just like the Lite, DSi, and XL.

The casual audience now has smart phones and that is a better fit for them. $40 for Super Monkey Ball 3D or $5 for Super Monkey Ball on their iPhone?

I don't think lightning will strike twice if they try to cater to casuals again. The market is different now.

Haha, it isn't unexplained, I have just lost interest with Nintendo and their 'main' games. You listed the 'good' titles there and all I see is Mario, Mario, Mario, Mario. I would like to see something new and interesting from Nintendo that can get me interested in them again.
Granted, you like those titles, that is fair enough and I hope they live up to your expectations, but the ship sailed long time ago for me. =[

Well, the price drop does allow me to purchase one earlier than I planned. But it does look like the 3DS isn't selling like its predecessors have. Maybe with the price drop it will. Who knows. :/
