I don't think any dev would be stupid enough to literally port any games over without adapting the controls, and for games where the gameplay just isn't adaptable to tablets, they'd fail pretty quickly and the devs would (I hope) wise up. Then we'd either see side games for the AAA series on these alternate platforms or else new IPs altogether if they really catch on. Unfortunately I also don't think anything but the iPad will really catch on. :/ Now that everyone's seeing that the iPad is actually a big hit, they're jumping the bandwagon but I think all of these tablets will face the same problems we're seeing in the smartphone world, where Apple is the big player because they have their own controlled App Store, with every dev on that developing for the iPhone (and I think all iPads can play all iPhone game apps?) so everything works as you would expect. But with other platforms, even Android, trying to develop something that will play flawlessly on every item on the market--from well-spec'd phones to throwaways with the same OS--is nigh impossible. And with all these different companies entering the tablet market with their own OS, I'd be surprised if we actually see anything decent from any devs on these platforms. :/ So I guess when I see tablet gaming, I just kind of substitute in "iPad gaming", but I still think it can be successful and that it's going to be successfully tapped into soon enough. And I dread the day I feel the need to get an iPad to keep up with the gaming industry.
I can never really see nice, full games being on tablets. Don't like the idea of playing a game like CoD on a full touchscreen, I would definitely prefer a mouse and keyboard. I also prefer a larger display, but wouldn't want a 15-17 inch tablet, it would be too big.
