I saw Chernobyl Diaries on Thursday night. Aside from the ending, it was a REALLY good movie. The fact that they relied so heavily on the setting proved to be a strong point, it was very interesting. The only bad thing that I can think of is that they never really explained what the government was doing with the "patients." Also, it has Jesse McCartney in it.
I saw Amazing Spider-Man at the midnight premiere. I really liked it. I preferred it to the previous iteration. Tobey MacGuire is goofy and awkward. Never liked him as an actor. I think Alex Garfield played a really good Spider-Man and Peter Parker. And I think the Lizard was a good villain to start off with because it made it feel like a new movie instead of the same exact movie we already saw a few years ago.
I saw "The Amazing Spider-Man". I thoroughly enjoyed it. I really wasn't expecting too. Performances were good across the board (except maybe Sally Field, who just didn't seem to fit well). Sheen was just as good Cliff Robertson was playing Uncle Ben. Unlike with Avengers, I actually cared about all these characters. Liked the villain too, he played out a lot more like Doc Oc did in Spider-Man 2 - good intentions, kind of tragic. Far from Green Goblin and his cartooniness. It felt a little too samey at times, but I guess that can't be avoided because the core origin is the same. What I didn't like: - Web shooter devices. I like how in the old films he was able to shoot web organically... even if that isn't in the comics. - I didn't like the suit as much as the old design - Garfield. I think he was a great Parker when interacting with his family or with Gwen (especially Gwen. They had great chemistry). But playing the "student" just didn't seem right. Also I like Toby better as in the suit as Spider-Man - Where was J.J.? I liked how the story played out. It left unanswered questions and hinted at things, which is good because it leaves you wanting more. Overall, better than the 2002 movie (and Spider-Man 3, of course. By leaps and bounds). Not as good as Spider-Man 2
- I didn't like the web shooters at first but they sort of grew on me. I think it makes a lot more sense than the organic version though I'm just dreading the point where they use them as a big plot point in a future movie. 9_9 - ...he was so much hotter than Maguire so he gets my stamp of approval there.
He still should have been in the movie. Maybe the Daily Bugle reports on Spiderman without Parker's help? That could've worked. I think we can agree he's the best thing in the Raimi Spiderman trilogy. And to prove it, here's a video:
Yeah but I don't think newspapers are in much of a rush to hire high schoolers. :P And through most of the movie, Parker isn't even trying to be a general vigilante like Spider-Man is known for... he was just chasing look-alikes of the criminal that killed his uncle. I don't think he really takes his role as a "super hero" that seriously until that night at his girlfriend's house when he realizes the police are taking him seriously. (And then from there to the end of the main plot is... what... a few days, probably?) So it wouldn't have made sense for Parker to run off and start selling his photos there. And showing JJ without Parker working there would have only been fan service because it would've been completely unnecessary otherwise. :/ I dunno, I didn't find the movie lacking without him. I'm just looking forward to future ones because it's pretty inevitable that he'll be there. (Although I love the actor for JJ in the first trilogy so much that I kind of expect to be disappointed with whoever replaces him!) Anyway, watched Spider-Man 2 tonight. It was better than the first and but I think you are indeed thinking of the video games, TRIFORCE89 because Spidey did not say a single witty thing the entire movie. :P In fact, despite learning a few more facial expressions over last time, I think he was generally worse in this movie, lol.
Well, whatever. Still Maguire in the games XD In this new one, Spidey just seemed mean spirited. Garfield as Parker was great, but just can't stand him in the suit lol And I still like Spider-Man 2 the best of them all. The new movie is terrific and really well done, but the first two are more true to the Spider-Man franchise I think. New one is a great movie, but it tries to be Batman.
I think it's because he's so young so he's still sort of got the emo teenager thing going on. :( I'm hoping he becomes more funny-sarcastic rather than mean-sarcastic in future sequels.
Enough Spider-Man talk. I watched Batman Begins again earlier today. Prep work for The Dark Knight Rises this week
