I think I'm the only person in the world who's not excited for TDK in the slightest. Even all the trailers just make me go "oh." instead of getting excited. :( I won't be seeing it in theatres.
Now that the embargo is gone, reviews for TDKR are beginning to pop up and so far they're all positive. I've read some and they all say pretty much the same stuff. It's a very satisfying conclusion, terrific performances, lots of emotion, and the ending (which unbelievably hasn't been spoiled yet) is incredible. The main criticisms are that there are too many characters, the story can be complicated at times, and it doesn't have the shock and intensity of TDK. If anyone's interested in reading reviews I recommend you don't. It's amazing how many film critics think giving a review means giving a summary of the movie. What they're supposed to be doing is stating whether the movie is good or bad and then explain why. I kind of regret reading the reviews because I now know in detail the story of the movie (except for the ending of course). So don't read reviews. Just look at the scores.
From what I remember, unless something's changed, you've only seen The Dark Knight (on a blurry Internet bootleg at that) but not Batman Begins. So... no real reason for you to be looking forward to the conclusion of the series. You have Netflix, I think you should try watching the first two. You suffered through all those Marvel movies and these are much better. :p In particular, Batman Begins is important. I don't think I'd like The Dark Knight as much if I hadn't seen it. That movie tends to push Bats in the sidelines and focuses on the villains. If I didn't have the thourough groundwork of the first movie on just what makes Bruce Wayne tick I wouldn't have really cared. The second movie launches right out of the end of the first one - they go together. Just a great movie franchise; terrific writing, strong performances, wonderful cinematography. They're legitimately good films that just happen to have Batman in them.
Several film critics also say that the TDKR makes many more references to BB than it does to TDK. So if you're going to see TDKR it really helps if you see the previous two films, especially the first.
It may not have been a full movie, but I just watched the trailer for Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn a while ago. It looks really well-made, and I'm pleasantly surprised that Susan Pevensie's (from The Chronicles of Narnia) actor is in it. The only thing I saw that I didn't like was how they used the Master Chief's actor's voice for it rather than his voice actor from the games. Still, it looks really good, I can't wait for the series to start in October.
I saw Batman Begins while I was up all night one night last summer. It was okay. I'm just... not a Batman fan. XD
I have both Batman Begins and The Dark Knight on Blu-ray but I haven't gotten around to watching either of them. I probably should soon though, since I enjoyed Arkham Asylum and I'd like to see TDKR.
I don't remember Batman Begins very well (The only time I saw it was back when it was in theaters), but The Dark Knight is a damn good movie.
