Yeah I agree about your points on Pokemon. The only games I had on by GameBoy Color were Pokemon Yellow, Red, Blue, Silver and Gold. I didn't have any interest in the other games, and even now those Pokemon games are still very popular.
I was the same way as you guys. The only thing I really played was Pokemon for a few years. Of course, I played Mario and Zelda and Star Fox and other games when I was visiting friends, but as far as games I owned it was pretty much all Pokemon. It wasn't until probably...2004 or '05 that I really started branching out a little bit, and when I got my 360 and PS3 I really became open to a lot more series and genres. But pretty much my entire library of GB/GBC games is Pokemon, except for the Zelda games I got a few years later.
My original Game Boy library consisted solely of Super Mario Land and Tetris for the longest time. Although I played Kirby's Dream Land a lot whenever I visited my cousins. They had that game, I'd bring my Game Boy, play their game, and finish it in a single sitting. Always with the goal of unlocking the sound test lol I finally got other games when Pokemon came out. Which I think was the same year I got the Game Boy Color. Until I moved onto the Game Boy Advance, I ended up acquiring the Zelda titles, Donkey Kong Land 1 and 2, and Mario Tennis among some other lesser titles. Still fairly small
I never really branched out in the handheld aspect, as the last handheld I bought was the GameBoy Color. All I had for it was Pokemon. But, I did branch off by getting a PS2 and moving into games like NHL, FIFA and Ratchet& Clank.
I did. I remember getting a yellow one at Wal-Mart when I was five-years-old. Pokémon Yellow was my first game for it.
Mine was lime green. My favorite color at the time...though the blue ones and the see-through purple ones were really awesome too. I wound up getting a see-through bluish-purple GBA though (I think it was called "Glacier" officially).
I had the transparent purple Game Boy Color (which I guess is "Atomic Purple" like the N64 controller)
Hey I also had a lime green GameBoy Color! I remember we bought it because my Dad's favourite colour's green and he said to get it. And I loved the purple see-through ones, my friend had one, and I actually have an N64 colour that's see-through purple as well.
I always wanted a GBC but I never had one. :< The only Nintendo handhelds I ever had were the Avalanche GBA and NDS. I remember BEGGING for a yellow GBC one year for Christmas. D: dang I wanted one. GBC needs a throw back. Re-released with clearer screens and GBA ports. Not because it's kickass high-tech, but because I'd buy one. :P
